Cornell is a private university situated in Ithaca within the city of New York in United States. Cornell University is also in Qatar and Doha. There are different fields of study in Cornell University. In Ithaca the university runs seven undergraduate and seven graduate colleges of different branches of studies. It also offers research, study and other programs worldwide. The number of students in Cornell University are about 19000 combining the undergraduate and graduate programs in 122 countries. As the epidemic of swine flu this year has highly affected small children between 5 years to ten years and young individuals aged between 18 to 45 years, so all the schools and colleges of different nations have become alert and started vaccination programs and made medical facilities available in their premises.
It was suggested to students to stay at home who were already suffering from flu symptoms. A large number of schools and colleges were also closed in order to prevent the infection due to swine flu virus from spreading. In terms of swine flu and Cornell, the Cornell University was hard hit by the viruses of swine flu. An indipendent survey report shows that 3.5 percent of the total students of Cornell university were found to be infected with the h1n1 virus. The report shows that more than 700 swine flu cases have been detected after starting of classes in Cornell University. One can estimate the deadly relation of swine flu and Cornell university with this data. The number of swine flu cases in Cornell University was much more in comparison to other universities in New York. Seeing the increasing number of swine flu cases the university gave leave to those students who were found infected. The reason for giving leave to those students was to give them space and time for recovery and protect other healthy students from infection. It was also ordered to all the people of the university includingstudent, faculties and other workers to take leave from the premises, if suffering from flu like symptoms.
A twenty four hour help line service was also started in the Cornell University for the individuals. Those who had any symptoms of flu or needed medical treatment could consult to this help service for treatment and suggestions. The students and teachers or any other member of the university were advised not to go to libraries, laboratories, mess, restaurants, social gatherings or events, if suffering from swine flu or had symptoms of flu. They were also restricted from attending lectures, extracurricular activities and were advised to avoid work and public transportation and stay at home until cured totally. Students were also asked to follow all the precautionary measures provided by the Cornell premises to control the spread of swine flu.

In addition officers of Cornell university were also working with the county and state health officials to examine the outbreak in the university and in different states. They were also following the guidelines given by the center for disease control and prevention to plan and provide the safeguards required for the restriction of swine flu virus in the college campuses of Cornell University. Regular updates of swine flu cases were also asked by the campuses of Cornell University to evaluate the situation of the swine flu in their colleges.
